Welcome to True North.

For us boating is a hiatus from our normal, off-the-water life.  While it does come with its own routines and occasional pressures, they are different enough to be a welcome variation to what we have become accustomed on land.

We hope you find enjoyment in following along with some of our boating experiences on True North I and True North II.

The best aspect of boating on our Coastal Craft and Selene True North's has been the ability to share our experiences with friends. The consistent feedback from our many guests is how much fun they've had exploring the waters of the Pacific Northwest.

We welcome your feedback and ideas.

2016 with True North II

Here are some pictures to share the diversity and beauty of the NW. Enjoy!

We're back! After selling our Selene Trawler, True North, in 2010, I have been "between boats" the Summer of 2015 when I purchased a 2010 Coastal Craft 400 IPS. What a beautiful boat! I have been...

2012 Chartered in SE Alaska

2007 Summer Cruising

In July 2007, True North completed commissioning at Selene Yacht Services and eagerly “off” we went.  This was to be our first time skippering a 40-plus foot trawler (48' LOA). Though we had spent weeks...

While True North was in commissioning, I went on an instructional trip on Jim Kyle’s FV Home Shore. 1,000 miles up the inside passage in 10 days. Very helpful. My goals for this trip were to improve my navigation...

Selene Yacht Service in Seattle performed the commissioning service on True North.  They were going thru a management change at the time, but in the end they got all the electronics installed and did a good...

March 2007 and True North is on its way to Seattle. Pretty good timing - hopefully it can be commissioned in time for some Summer cruising!

True North is a Selene 43 Trawler made by Jet Tern in mainland China. I was able to travel to the factory twice while True North was being built and thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of the dedicated men and women who...
